Unofficial Kick-Off to Summer

We all know that Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer, and in the summer we gather outside, hang at a bbq and just enjoy time with family & friends. This might be the first chance in over a year to safely connect with friends and family in the ways we know best.

Millions of Americans are grabbing a quick getaway this Memorial Day weekend now that things are opening up in the country, but if you are not traveling yet, make it all about spending time with loved ones at home as you remember those who have fought for our/your freedom.

Here are some ideas on how to spend your long weekend.

  • Play Yard Games (weather permitting) -> cornhole tournament anyone? Invite neighbors and friends and make it a competition

  • Enjoy a Local Parade -> my town's parade is amazing and after not having one last year during the pandemic, I know seeing it this year will have an even more special meaning

  • Take Time to Read a Book -> Barnes & Noble compiled this list of books that help share the meaning of Memorial Day for all ages

  • It's Grilling Season -> bon appétit shared so many delicious ideas and recipes I could not just pick one, so take a look HERE to see

  • Toast to Memorial Day -> mix up a cocktail or mocktail in red, white, & blue. I shared a couple of favorites HERE

I hope these ideas help you get into the spirit of the weekend. Enjoy a fantastic kick-off to summer, whatever you may do to celebrate!
